Hodgkinson recorded her fastest time of one minute 54.61 seconds last year in London.

Keely Hodgkinson concluded her two-lap season with a triumph at the women-only Athlos meet in NYC on Friday evening.

{The current Olympic champion, who secured third place at the global championships recently, dominated an outstanding victory in one minute 56.53 seconds in what was just her sixth appearance in a season affected by a muscle issue.

Compatriot and global silver winner Georgia Bell finished second once more in one minute 58.33 seconds, while St Vincent's Shafiqua Maloney (one minute 58.57) claimed third.

"I've barely raced this year so it was likely less of a struggle for me to compete and be motivated to perform," stated the 23-year-old.

"The environment at the event is incredible so it was extremely enjoyable."

The female-exclusive event filled Icahn Stadium in its second edition, introducing a party atmosphere to traditional track, with live music and Tiffany & Co. crowns replacing standard medals.

The 23-times tennis major winner Serena W., who is wed to Athlos founder Alexis O., was present to award the winners with their crowns.

Previous champions received $60,000 (£44,603) - one of the largest prize purses in track and field.

The event also drew several top athletes, as Kenya's triple Olympic champion and global record breaker Faith Kipyegon triumphed in the mile race, crossing the finish line in 4:17.78.

American Brittany B., the 200m bronze medallist from last year's Paris Olympics, secured the 100m and 200m double.
