Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
