Edwards as well as Gary O'Neil Included in Wolverhampton Wanderers Managerial Candidates

Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil represent the initial names under consideration to succeed Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on Sunday after the team's ten-game winless beginning to the Premier League campaign.

And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have historic associations to the team - are part of the names to be considered by the Wolves ownership.

Edwards is presently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.

However the ex- Luton Town manager - who played over a century of games for the club during his time as a player - is said to be a leading candidate for the position.

The 42-year-old is said to have backing from the club board as they start the search of appointing a fresh head coach.

O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise contender, even though he would be a shock choice considering he was released by the club in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham United player is currently unemployed which means the club would not need to pay any compensation.
