British Airways is introducing free high-speed in-flight internet via satellite agreement
Passengers on British Airways can soon access quick wifi onboard at no cost after a major deal with SpaceX's satellite firm.
Complimentary and Quick Wifi Across the Board
The airline announced that the free, “reliable and lightning-fast” wifi offering via the satellite provider will be accessible to passengers flying coach, premium economy, or first class from next month.
Widespread Implementation Throughout Several Flight Operators
The holding organization for the airline, International Airlines Group, stated it had reached an deal with the satellite firm to provide internet access for more than 500 jets across the group's carriers, such as the Irish airline, Iberia, and Vueling.
Seamless Wifi starting at Gate to Landing
British Airways explained that the rollout for the system was part of a multi-billion pound “transformation” initiative that will offer uninterrupted connectivity access for flyers from the gate through arrival, even when they are flying above seas and far-off locations.
Passengers can connect several electronics and won't need to need a special access code.
“Gamechanging for the airline as well as our customers, improving their experience during flights with us through providing customers smooth wifi from gate to gate.”
Present Connectivity Services
Restricted connectivity service is currently provided for British Airways passengers through the majority of their aircraft via the .air service.
Members in the airline's loyalty club can send communications and text-only correspondence in the air without paying, while travelers wishing to watch audio, films, or content during the journey who are not flying in first class might pay from ÂŁ4.99 and ÂŁ21.99 for a wifi bundle.
